The idea of the podcast is this: We talk about “three things” that are interesting, important or both. The third thing will be about something from the world of sports. Golf will be featured, as both Richard and I share a love of (and for) the game. We’ll try to keep the “run time” at 30-35 minutes. We’re thinking of calling the podcast “Alternate Shots.”
Richard is a veteran diplomat (he served in the Carter, Reagan, G.H.W. Bush and G.W. Bush administrations). He was president of the Council on Foreign Relations for two decades (he’s now president emeritus). He’s a Senior Counselor at Center|View Partners, a prominent New York City-based investment banking firm. He also distributes a weekly newsletter — Home and Away — on Friday mornings. Home and Away addresses matters domestic and foreign. It’s terrific. I encourage you to subscribe.
You know me. I’m in your in-box 6 days a week.
Most of Episode One concerns the war in Ukraine; the Anchorage “summit”, the subsequent meetings, the various diplomatic strategies and tactics. Toward the end, we go back-and-forth about the woes of the Democratic Party and President Trump’s dwindling “job approval” ratings.
At the very end, we answer a pressing question: Should Jordan Spieth be one of the Captain’s six picks for the U.S. Ryder Cup team?
