A couple of weeks ago, Joe and I interviewed Zongyuan Zoe Liu, the Maurice R. Greenberg senior fellow for China studies at the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR). Recently, she wrote a superb essay for Foreign Affairs magazine, entitled "China's Real Economic Crisis." The sub-headline of the article — “Why Beijing Won’t Give Up on a Failing Model” — got our attention. We decided to make it a question: Why won’t Beijing give up on a failing model?
