The central political question of our time is: “How do we “manage” artificial intelligence? It’s an enormously difficult question to answer, because the technology is racing ahead of our ability to understand it. Dario Armodei, the CEO of the AI company Anthropic, has written an essay on the subject that captures the scope of the problem.

I think the best starting place for talking about AI’s risks is the same place I started from in talking about its benefits: by being precise about what level of AI we are talking about.
