Below is the second episode of “Night Owls,” during which Joe Klein and I talk about college presidents, stalemates, “end games” and the Iowa Poll (among other things).
On the subject of Iowa, Joe holds fast to the idea that things there are just getting started. I have a double-secret suspicion that Donald Trump’s Iowa campaign is analogous to Ronald Reagan’s 1980 campaign there; over-confident and over-rated.
If it turns out we’re both wrong, and Trump wins handily in Iowa (and New Hampshire the week after), the 2024 presidential nomination campaigns (of both parties) will be over in eight days.

Listened to Joe Klein discussion. Bazaar invented parallel universe thing. US Jews are broadly supporting the genocide of 20,000+++ Palestinian civilians. The real problem, says Joe Klein, the real tragedy, is that US Jewish college students are being exposed to criticism. And for that, says Klein, more academic heads must roll. The man needs to discover / rediscover his humanity. Every second of this interview should have been used to argue for immediate permanent cease fire.
