Weekend News Items will be distributed tomorrow (Sunday, 6 August). I’ve just posted a new edition of Political Items, which is free to read (today).

Later today, we’ll be posting a new podcast at News Items, Political Items and Political Wire. The new podcast is a conversation between me and Taegan Goddard, the founder and editor of Political Wire. We talked about the week’s quite extraordinary political “developments” for about 35-40 minutes. We think it’s worth your time.

In case you are unfamiliar with Taegan’s work, Political Wire is an essential-reading political newsletter that is now 25 years old. I think of it as the AP of political news: coverage from all over, updating constantly. How he’s able to do it, day after day, week after week, is beyond me. He posts every day, throughout the day, and often well into the night.
